Gateway Announces E-155C Tablet

How Gateway is still around and turning a profit in 2007 is beyond me, but apparently they’re pulling it off somehow. The latest from the Gate’ is the E-155C convertible tablet PC. Some of the features include a 12.1-inch XGA rotating touchscreen, Intel Core 2 Duo ULV CPUs, 802.11a/b/g WiFi (what, no pre-N?), card reader, fingerprint reader, Firewire, and a DVD Burner.

Nothing too exciting, but not too shabby either. We’ll have to see what Gateway will be charging for it to determine whether it’s even worth considering. Leaving 802.11n out was a bad move, though. Oh, and you’ll be getting Vista on it as well. Lucky you.

UPDATE: Prices start at $1,849.99 for the E-155C and Gateway has it positioned for use in education, healthcare, government and businesses — places unlikely to adopt pre-N wireless. In early May, Gateway will offer a version of the product for home and home office customers, the Gateway C-120X, which will be priced starting at $1,499. Now if the C-120X doesn’t come with a pre-N wireless option, that will be a bad move.
