First patch for Windows 7 beta addresses MP3 bug

The Windows 7 beta is so 10 minutes ago. Still, many of you seem to be genuinely interested in Microsoft’s newest operating system, so you might want to know that a patch has been issued for it. The patch addresses an issue involving MP3 playback.

Yes, this, the first patch for Windows 7 beta, fixes a problem that prevented the OS from properly handling MP3 files. Basically, MP3 files with “large headers” wouldn’t play in their entirety.

The patch should come through via Windows Update.

Apparently there’s another, more serious bug that this patch doesn’t address, something to do with an SMB vulnerability. That’s gonna have to wait till the next “public release” of Windows 7 to be fixed.
