PSS Systems’ software helps organizations manage information governance policies across massive amounts of electronic business information while avoiding legal risk, and discovery and data management costs. The company’s Atlas Suite provides data management features including legal holds, discovery workflow, regulatory compliance and data governance. Clients include Abbott, BASF, ConocoPhillips, First Data, GE, Pfizer and Williams.
IBM says that it will be combining PSS Systems’ software with IBM’ Information Lifecycle Governance software. Big Blue says that as data management and legal obligations come to a crossroads, Chief Legal Officers and CIOs are looking to use software to automate and implement routine enforcement of information governance policies.
This latest acquisition adds to the laundry list of companies IBM has picked up this year, including Blade Network Technologies, Initiate Systems, Cast Iron Systems, Sterling Commerce, Coremetrics, BigFix, Datacap, Unica, OpenPages, and Netezza.
