Happy Verizon and AT&T iPad day! Yep, today’s the day that the tablet is available from the two wireless carriers. Here’s what you need to know.
The Big Red V is only selling the WiFi version. However it comes bundled with the 3G MiFi 2200 mobile hotspot so the iPad, along with four other devices, can get online as long as it’s within range of the MiFi. This bundle is priced the same as the standard 3G iPad with the 16GB costing $629, 32GB costing $729, with the 64GB getting a slight breaking and rounding out the group at $819. The data plan is a tad more, but does offer slightly higher data caps — 1GB for $20, 3GB for $35, and 5GB for $50 — but seeing how you can run any ol’ computer off your brand new MiFi, it might be worth it.
AT&T however is only offering the WiFi+3G model at the same price as every other retailer. Both the retail cost and data plan are the same with the 16GB starting out at $629. But from Apple’s perspective, getting the iPad into AT&T retail stores opens up a whole new demographic and supply chain. It’s a gigantic, new market.
