Chill Takes Its Next Step Into Social, Lets Users Set Up Livestream Lounges

Last week during TechCrunch Disrupt SF social video service Chill set up a special Disrupt Chill lounge, which allowed people to watch and chat about TechCrunch Disrupt live in Chill’s virtual home theatre environment. It was a hit, namely because of how compelling watching a live event with an audience is, even if that audience is virtual.

Because of positive user feedback regarding the Disrupt lounge, Chill co-founder Brian Norgard has decided to open this ability to create Chill lounges around live content to all users. As of today, any Chill user can create a livestream lounge simply by selecting the Live Video Stream option available in the Chill lounge creation flow. The feature supports Ustream,,, YouTube Live and with more options coming soon according to Norgard.

“We had a ton of content partners reach out directly and ask us to build similar experiences for their brands,” says Norgard on the influence of the TechCrunch Disrupt lounge. Chill plans on releasing more branded lounges next week, beginning with some well-known web series, wanting to focus on making event-driven content more social.

The Chill livestreams feature comes just in time for monster Facebook conference F8, which you’ll be able to watch live starting at 10:30 am PST in a Chill live stream lounge here. Should be exciting.

Chill recently raised a $1.5 million angel round from Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint and TechCrunch founder Michael Arrington, among others.
